China shows readiness to enhance partnership with Singapore
"Over the 35 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties, the relations between the two countries have maintained a good momentum for development, with deepened political mutual trust, fruitful practical cooperation and closer people-to-people exchanges, setting a model for mutual learning and win-win cooperation between countries," Li said.
Reflecting on the achievements of bilateral relations, Li said Beijing is eager to work closely with Singapore to align development strategies, strengthen cooperation in key sectors, and promote modernization efforts that benefit both nations. He also emphasized the importance of jointly upholding "true multilateralism and promoting common development in the region."
During his stay, Li is expected to hold discussions with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. The two sides are set to witness the signing of several memorandums and agreements focused on green development, the digital economy, and training and capacity building, according to Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Li is also scheduled to meet Singapore’s acting president, Eddie Teo, on Sunday. This visit marks the first time in seven years that a Chinese premier has traveled to Singapore, underscoring the significance Beijing places on strengthening its ties with the Southeast Asian nation.
Following his visit to Singapore, Li will head to Malaysia, where he will participate in a series of high-level regional meetings, including the 28th China-ASEAN Summit, the 28th ASEAN Plus Three Summit, the 20th East Asia Summit, and the fifth Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Leaders’ Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.
